Golden Eye2

 

The Golden Eye 2 is a film scanner designed especially, but not exclusively, with film archives in mind.  The scanner is built for all film types in 16 and 35mm including color print/negative, B&W print/negative and intermediate.  It can be supplied in either a 2k or 4k version with a swap option from 2k to 4k and vice versa also available.  Scanning speed in 2k is 12 fps for 16 and 35mm, speed in 4k is 3 fps.  The Golden Eye 2 software offers complete functionality for scanning control, film storage, cut-list handling, image enhancement, and more.  Due to the capstan film transport the scanner can digitise film with any number of sprocket holes, i.e. 1, 3, 4, 6 or 8 per frame.  This mode of driving the film is especially important when handling old, brittle and shrunken film as it does not require sprockets to transport the film.

Although digital technology is an essential tool for restoring valuable film material in the short to medium term, it is universally recognised that the best medium for long time preservation is film when stored under correct conditions.
